The success of a student in the academic setting can be affected by many factors. Two crucial factors in student success are parent and teacher communication, and parental involvement in their child’s education. When parents and teachers are working together and teaching and helping the student in the same way, the student performance will likely increase because they are hearing the same language. If parents and teachers are teaching the child to do the same skill two entirely different ways, the student can become confused and frustrated. Parents are also finding themselves frustrated with trying to understand the new processes in which math is being taught to their children. This leaves teachers and administrators looking for ways to increase parent communication and involvement. Providing the parents with a resource website allows parents access to the information to help them understand it themselves, so that they can become more involved in helping their children.

The purpose of my study was to survey twelve teachers and staff on the usefulness of a math resource website that was created specifically for the district’s math curriculum. The site was created with the intent to increase parent involvement and communication in regards to the math curriculum, and for teachers to provide parents and students guidance with the curriculum at home. The information collected from this study was used to help make improvements to the website before was published and sent to parents and students to use as a resource.
