About the Graduate Authors

Michele Crawford is currently a Gifted Intervention Specialist for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in the Akron Public School District. She loves working with her students, but ultimately aspires to work at the collegiate level to share her knowledge with future aspiring educators and help to prepare the next great generation of teachers for digital education integration. In Michele's spare time, she is a volunteer catechist for her church. Her hobbies include reading, scrap booking , country line dancing, and traveling with her husband. Michele and her husband are also expecting their first child in June 2020.

Sarah Kaufman is a seventh-grade math teacher at West Clermont Middle School. She has been teaching for six years, in both math and science at the middle grade level. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, Martin, and their two dogs. Sarah looks forward to the future opportunities that this master’s program could bring and appreciates the newly gained skills that she can apply in her current position.

Vanessa Rehkopf is a high school Intervention Specialist in Worthington, Ohio. She has been teaching for eight years. Vanessa earned her undergraduate degree and teaching license in K-12 Moderate/Intensive Special Education from The Ohio State University in 2012. She will graduate from BGSU with a Master’s in Classroom Technology in May 2020. Vanessa enjoys talking long walks with her dog, Derby and spending time with family and friends. Vanessa and her husband are excited to welcome their first baby at the end of June!

Marissa Shank graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. She has been a 4th and 5th grade Intervention Specialist for 6 years with Maumee City Schools, co-teaching in reading and math in inclusive settings. She is also the Student Council Advisor within his building. She lives outside of Bowling Green in Haskins, Ohio with her husband, Preston, daughter, Sloane, and dog, Teddy. Outside of teaching, she loves traveling and spending time with her friends and family. For her Masters research project, she created a resource website for parents and students based on their newly adopted math curriculum
