MobyMax in the
classroom

Introduction
I have never been more excited for a child’s potential learning growth than when I
first started using MobyMax. MobyMax is an online learning system boasting the
ability to find and fix gaps in students’ learning. With topics ranging from numbers
and alphabet to reading literature and multiplication, MobyMax can work with
students of varying ages.
A suggested way to get students started on MobyMax is by having them complete a
placement test in your desired subject such as math, reading, or language. MobyMax
then uses those results to automatically assign lessons in the areas the student
struggled. Teachers still have the ability to override lessons at any time by deleting
them, adding different lessons, or arranging the order of the lessons.
Motivation
There are many aspects of student motivation in MobyMax such as game time
earned from completing lessons, contests, sweepstakes for prizes, badges,
certificates and more. Teachers are also able to assign extra game time,
sweepstakes tickets and various other elements as they see fit. As mentioned
previously, MobyMax allows you to see the potential learning growth of your
student, which is called “learning velocity”. This is based on various factors such
as where the student began, their amount of focus on the topics, and percentage
correct. Here are a few examples from my own classroom of projected learning
velocity.
