Spring Festival Volunteers

In Their Own Words

Before we made the heartbreaking decision to cancel Spring Festival , hundreds of hours had already been put in by our generous volunteers . The success of the event is due in large part to the time , talents and financial gifts of more than 100 volunteers . They faithfully assist weeks before and during Spring Festival . We wanted to share with you comments from a handful of volunteers expressing their commitment to our mission .
“ I always feel welcome and appreciated when I ’ m out there . Spring Festival in particular seems to be a special time for gathering members of the community to connect , reconnect and celebrate each other . It just feels like a great big part of God ’ s family to me when I am out there . Lots of love , joy , hugs and laughter , and it is such fun !” – Sherry Gremillion
“ Having worked in a Juvenile Group Home for ex-offenders trying to transition back into society , I have seen how one or two bad decisions can severely impact a kid ’ s future . Through the commitment of Boys and Girls Country supporters , the kids at the campus are able to avoid this situation and aspire for a much brighter future .” – Joe Long
“ I love volunteering at Spring Festival because I can see the good it reaps for the precious kids who live there .” – Madelon Nowak
“ It ’ s always been about the kids and providing them with opportunities that they might not otherwise have and a sense of civic pride .” - Mike O ’ Kelley
“ The attitude and positive experiences I have had with the kids of all ages tell me Boys and Girls Country is teaching them Christian based life skills . More of that is needed today , and I am honored to help in any way I can .” - David Samuelson
“ I love I landed at Boys and Girls Country . It ’ s my thing . It ’ s what I do for myself . It fuels me and it ’ s become a passion I never want to be without .” – Dana Sherrill
