Beyond Man Volume Two | Page 3

BEYOND THE PAGES We’ re all extremely familiar with the words ‘ Bro Code’ and in the world of modern menswear, I believe there is an apparent ‘ Man Code’ running around causing all kinds of tailoring mishaps and dapper disasters. By this I mean lifeless formalwear, designer stubble, celebrity icons and non-specific safe-styling. None of which goes on at Beyond Man HQ. Codes are forbidden. Do’ s & Don’ ts of men’ s fashion need not apply. Why? Because we say so. Let your hair down fellas, even give it a metallic wash-in while you’ re at it. Pierce your face. Let your facial hair grow until it can grow no more. Cut up your distressed denim or your newly acquired baseball t-shirts and completely let yourself go in a liberal movement of refreshing and 100% flexible menswear attitude. FANTASIA EXOTICA. Teaming up with fashion stylist Jamie Russell, exploring the worlds of independent Irish digital print and eccentric knitwear designer Lorraine Dimond and the iconic, pop culture infused childhood starting point that can only be found in all things Disney related. Followed swiftly by the androgynous, trend-laden editorial FIRST BOY OF SPRING before moving to the more avant garde and wildly innovative offerings of the graduate collections from the Belfast School of Art menswear creations of Fintan Mulholland and Emma Zacharopoulou, alongside NCAD’ s Ciara Lennon. Including a behind the scenes look at the Belfast School of Art Graduate Fashion Show by catwalk photographer Aigars Endzelis. Not to mention another Jamie Russell collab via the traditional and vintage styling’ s of the artistic Polaroid shoot taken by colourful photographer Neil Kerr entitled NO MAN’ S LAND, a street style inspired MAN ABOUT BELFAST featuring local male model Piaras Smyth, and the Dior Homme/white on white trend inspired shoot COERCION. Highlighting newly signed Dublin based models Shane Gallagher and Luke Taylor alongside Belfast Fashionweek covergirl finalist Nerissa Moore wearing an all-white lace design by Senan O' Neill. All concluding in our cover story BEAUTIFUL CREATURES with a spotlight on New York Fashionweek make-up artist Nicky Whitten and the mesmerising, otherworldly body pieces and perspex cuff designs of Rachel MCK. Enj oy. And remember. Bros before codes. Lewis Cameron Beyond Man Editor & Fashion Director
