Finding a Place at Bethlehem
by Barb Tungseth
In 2007 my husband (best friend and soul mate) passed away. I continued to
live in Cambridge, MN for 8 years as I went through the loss, loneliness and
trying to adjust to the new normal. At the end of May 2015, I moved to South
Minneapolis. I had grown up in south Minneapolis. However, after so many
years away, I only had one friend still living here.
In considering churches, I chose to visit Bethlehem as I wanted a larger church
with a lot of activity happening. On my third Sunday visit in shaking hands
at the door with Pastor Kris TM I said, "I do not know anyone here, but found
the sermons very meaningful and Maria on the pipe organ is awesome." I love
pipe organ. Pastor Kris introduced me to two members who invited me to have
coffee with them. I really believe God was in that moment with Pastor Kris
and me leading me to two people I have been friends with ever since. I meet
them for worship and we along with others have coffee and good conversation
together every Sunday at church after worship.
Now after being a member of Bethlehem for three years I have been involved in
classes, doing visitation, working with "The Gathering" and volunteering in the
church office. I believe you have to find a place to use your gifts God has given
and Bethlehem is my church home.
The next new member classes are scheduled for Sundays, January 13 & 27,
11:30 am to 1:00 pm (MPLS). More information available online.
