The culture and the people make Gallagher a great place to work, said Steve Stoll, area president for Oklahoma and Arkansas, who offices in Tulsa. “I’m sure everybody says that, but it is 100 percent true,” he said. “We truly rely on each other. Our business has changed drastically as employers seek to take a more holistic approach to employee well-being, recruiting and retention while navigat- ing legislative changes, and our culture is very important to us.” Gallagher is a global company with operations in 33 coun- tries. Gallagher Benefit Services, a division of A.J. Gallagher & Co., specializes in health insurance brokerage and consult- ing services and helps clients design, implement and manage health care benefits programs for employers by taking a holistic approach toward the employee’s total well-being. “We work to make sure the dollars employers are spending are addressing the overall strategic plan of the company,” Stoll said. In Oklahoma, the company has about 60 employees and offices in Oklahoma City, Miami and Tulsa, Stoll said. He started 20 2018 Best Places to Work in 1994 with a family agency that Gallagher acquired in 2002. Stoll said the Oklahoma offices have maintained that tight- knit, local feel despite the size of the entire company. “It feels like a local company with national resources,” Stoll said. “We’re very involved in the local communities.” Employees named the service staff incentive and bonus programs, flexible Fridays and a birthdays-free vacation day as some of the perks they enjoy at Gallagher. Employees are recognized in public at quarterly meetings and through a corpo- rate team and locally, with Ring the Bell success stories weekly. In Oklahoma, Gallagher offers a volunteer walking program during lunch or at the end of the day, regular food truck visits and social outings such as to Topgolf, bowling or bingo. Gallagher also holds fundraisers for needy families each year, donates time in the community as a business and participates in the Relay for Life fundraiser.
