Boundaries, Goals and Outcomes
Code of Conduct
During October 2010, the Morwell
BEST Centre staff undertook a
review of the student Code of
Conduct.
A series of workshops were
facilitated to provide the opportunity
for staff to reflect on boundaries and
expectations that optimise student
and staff interaction, with the aim of
promoting positive
wellbeing, and a sense of safety for
all members of the school community.
The work done at this campus will
become the basis for the development
of a new Code of Conduct to be used
across the school.

Catering for Diversity
Cultural Awareness at Morwell Wangin Karobran
The continued employment of a
youth specific Koorie Education
Worker in the Gippsland Region has
supported the re-engagement of
indigenous young people in learning
through culturally appropriate
activities that integrate a range of
learning approaches using literacy,
numeracy, physical education and
art.
The BEST Centre program undertook
a youth leadship workshop in
November, 2010 entitled Culture,
Respect and Pride. This workshop
brought students together with
approximatley 30 other local Koorie
young people who spoke about their
learning styles. This information will
prove invaluable in supporting the
ongoing development of teaching
and learning practices and in the
development of culturally appropriate
curriculum for our young people.
Further partnership models will be
developed in 2011 focussing on
mentoring young indigenous people
through pathways to employment.
This partnership will be with Kurnai
College (a DEECD secondary college)
which has a significant Koorie student
population.
