Major Achievements in 2010
The Berry Street Model of Education
2010 saw the completion and
acceptance of a best practice traumainformed, model of alternative
education.
The model clearly identifies 9 domains
that are essential in the education of
young people with multiple barriers to
learning.
The model was developed by the
Youth Research Centre at the University
of Melbourne, based on a literature
review, consultation with Berry Street’s
education staff and interviews with key
external stakeholders.
The implementation over the next three
years of this model has become the
major focus for the new Berry Street
Strategic Education and Training Plan.
This report will focus on our work within
seven of these domains in 2010.
