Responsible governance of Berry Street , protection of its good reputation and stewardship of its resources and assets , is the key role of the Board , supported by the Executive Management Team .
• Berry Street is most fortunate to attract and retain such impressive , respective and committed Directors . Laurinda Gardner stepped down after three years as President and Paul Wappett was elected . Steve Harris left the Board in April after three years and Dr Neil Coventry resigned after seven years and has joined our staff as the consulting psychiatrist ( parttime ). Professor Marie Connolly joined the Board in May 2011 .
• The Board met 11 times and used its annual workshop with the Executive Management Team to reflect on progress with our 2027 Strategic Directions . The Hon . Mary Wooldridge , MP ( Minister for Community Services ), Australian of the Year , Simon McKeon , philanthropist , Genevieve Timmons and Professor Julian Disney , joined us for a discussion on how best to engage their respective sectors in our Strategic Directions .
• A new Public Policy and Advocacy Committee and task groups on Independent Income and Marketing Strategy were established and operated alongside the Governance ,
Finance and Investment and Quality and Risk Management Committees .
• All Directors completed the annual Register of Interests and Statement of Good Character .
• The Board endorsed a new Excellence Framework ( which integrates all quality and risk activities ) and reviewed the reporting framework and compliance calendar .
• A new Strategic Plan 2010 – 2013 was developed and six monthly reports were provided on progress in achieving the 2010 / 11 Business Plan .
• Jacqui Riters , our extremely capable Executive Officer , continued to support the Board and CEO and lead our communications and admin teams .
• Our 2009 / 10 Annual Report was awarded a Bronze Award in the Australasia Reporting Awards . This was an acknowledgement of our commitment to provide comprehensive , clear and accessible information about all our activities for our various stakeholders .
