t n e d i s O ur Pre t r p o e R s and CEO' In our 134th year, Berry Street continued to play a critical role for thousands of children, young people and families. Our skilled and committed staff and foster carers helped children recover from the devastating impact of violence, abuse and neglect. We earned the trust of young people who have been let down far too many times in the past and we linked them into education, training and helped them get a driver’s licence. We supported vulnerable parents to be the best parents they could be and helped women and their children take the necessary steps to be free of domestic violence. We listened to sad stories from the Forgotten Australians and survivors of Black Saturday and shared their pain. We understand that while every individual is unique, the first step to healing is through establishing a relationship of trust. We are also fierce advocates for the rights and needs of all the people with whom we have the privilege of working. In addition to this everyday work, we have set ourselves some ambitious goals for 2027 – our 150th birthday. You can read about them on page 6. None of this year’s achievements would have been possible without the support of the Victorian and Federal Governments, philanthropic foundations, businesses, community groups and our committed individual supporters. You provide the resources which enable our wonderful staff to do this essential work. Thank you to all of you for sharing our Vision – that all children have a good childhood, growing up feeling safe, nurtured and with hope for the future.
