Report
2011/12 was a turbulent year – anxiety about the
Eurozone; significant public sector cuts and austerity
measures; departmental restructures; the Protecting
Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry; a stronger focus on
accountability - which saw a number of community service
organisations lose government support; a new industrial
environment through Award Modernisation; and multiple
service and policy reforms.
Through all these changes, we remained determined to:
• Maintain our focus on achieving the best possible
outcomes for all our clients
• Build knowledge about what works and share this with
our colleagues
• Advocate strongly for policies and processes which
make our community fairer and more inclusive
• Ensure that we do everything possible to attract and
retain the best possible staff and volunteer foster carers
• Retain our focus on innovation and quality improvement
• Work in partnership with government, colleagues,
business, schools and philanthropic organisations

Following an approach from Lisa Lodge (which had
operated independently in Ballarat for 42 years), we
completed a successful Due Diligence and transition
strategy and Lisa Lodge formally became part of Berry
Street from 2 July 2012. This is a great opportunity
to strengthen the services we provide in Ballarat and
Horsham.
