Growing our independent income and influence are dependent on increasing the number and depth of key relationships .
Although the income from Workplace Giving fell last year , our overall support from business increased .

Philanthropic foundations enabled us to be innovative and extend our work into areas not supported by government . In addition to the countless hours contributed by our 217 foster carer households , 330 other volunteers contributed to corporate and community events and 150 mentors supported our young people .

Our Special People

Thank you and Valé Kris In our work with vulnerable children , we are fortunate to come across some very special people . Kris Beukman was one of these .
Kris was passionate about Berry Street and doing whatever she could to help our kids and families . Together with her friends at Medicare Galleria , Kris was always thinking of new ways to support us . She will be greatly missed by all of us .
Life Membership The Board awards Life Membership to people whose contribution to Berry Street is exceptional . In 2007 , Awards were presented to :
• Dennis Clarebrough – Dennis has provided probono investment advice for nearly 15 years .
• Gerard Dalbosco – Gerard was a Board member for six years and contributed significant time , financial expertise and networks .
• A third life membership was awarded to a wonderfully caring and generous woman , who has supported Berry Street since 1964 . She graciously accepted the Award , but did not want any public recognition .
Selina Sutherland Outstanding Volunteer Award This Award is presented in honour of Selina Sutherland , the first licensed Child Rescuer in Victoria and part of our heritage . The Award was presented to Steve Aney and Brendan Wagner . Steve and Brendan are foster carers for two boys who both experienced a number of placement breakdowns and trauma from their early family life . Steve and Brendan are very inclusive of the boys ’ birth families and their commitment to the boys has been humbling and inspiring .
Deb Kearsey Outstanding Staff Award Neil Morison came to Berry Street in 2001 from his position as Principal of Warawa Aboriginal College and is now Manager , Youth & Community Support Programs in the North & West Region . Neil is admired by his colleagues for his energy , his never-ending supply of ideas and his absolute commitment to do the best for our clients .
Early Career Award This is a new Award , established to recognise a staff member who exemplifies our organisational Values and has made a significant contribution in the first three years of their work with Berry Street . The inaugural Award was presented to Jessica Davey in our Central Office . Jess ’ bright personality , willingness to do whatever needs to be done and commitment to always doing her best , has been acclaimed by her colleagues .
