Coral reef scientist Meera Clarke is unexpec-
tedly visited by a police investigator who says
her father has been charged with the murder
of a 13-year-old girl, Ashleigh Richardson, who
disappeared back in 1995.
In this unique theatre experience, the public is
transported back in time to the disappearance
via Virtual Reality equipment. Here, we meet
Meera and two of her friends in her bedroom
in a small town in Australia.
The story is told during three overnight visits,
where the three 11-year-olds are singing Green
Day songs at the top of their lungs, talking
about the movie Dumb and Dumber and playing
Sega Mega Drive.
The friends discuss what happened to Ashleigh
and try not to think that she might be dead. She
was last seen on a stolen boat on its way out to
sea. But who are the suspects? And who was
the last person to see Ashleigh?
Meera's father is a police diver and leads the
team looking for Ashleigh. With the annual coral
spawning just around the corner, it is a race
against time.
The performance alternates between live and
VR, and in the last live scenes, it is revealed
what really happened that summer in 1995.
