Karl Ove Knausgård with friends A literary concert A time for text and tunes. In addition to being a renowned author, Karl Ove Knausgård is a driven musician, and so are seve- ral of his friends. For this event, Knausgård puts together a top-notch team of his music-playing and text-writing acquaintances for a literary and musical evening in Festval Square. The musical performances are accompanied by a house band assembled for the evening. Among the guests are writer and musician Tore Renberg – former vocalist in the band Lemen in which Knausgård was a drummer. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Tønes (Frank Tønnesen) will also be joining on stage. In 2018, Tønes won Spellemann Awards (Norwegian Grammy Awards) in the categories ‘Folk’ and ‘Best Lyricist’. The same year he debuted as a novelist. Karl Ove Knausgård is among the most read Norwegian authors today. His books have been translated into 30 languages, and have reaped many awards. Knausgård is a highly anticipated participant at this year's festival, not least because he has written the libretto for the opening performance Waiting in Grieghallen (p. 34).
