Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes brings young musicians from the Crescendo programme to beautiful Rosendal. A recital in the Barony’s Red Room coincides with the opening of this year’s art exhibition. The program- me consists of Dmitri Shostakovich’s emotive String Quartet no. 7 and Ernő Dohnányi’s Piano Quintet no. 2 from 1914, which to the astonishment of music critics is rarely performed. The pianist explains: ’Shostakovich’s compact String Quartet alternates between playfulness and intensity, while Dohnányi’s Piano Quintet, which I got to know a couple of years ago and have come to love, is theatri- cal, childlike, nostalgic and romantic. The five instruments together create a wonderful sound.’ Leif Ove Andsnes piano Johan Dalene violin Ludvig Gudim violin Timothy Ridout viola Torleif Thedéen cello m omantic songs in the idyllic R harbour at Bekkjarvik.
