TH E FE STIVAL TH ANKS The DNB Savings Bank Foundation is an independent foundation that has as one of its main goals to increase the interest and understanding of art and culture, especially among chil- dren and young people. They do this by supporting projects that ensure good dissemination and invite partic- ipation. Dextra Musica is a subsidiary of Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, which since 2006 has bought valuable string instruments with the purpose of loaning them to Norwegian musi- cians. With support from The DNB Savings Bank Foundation – Dextra Musica, the festival offers performances from young world-class musicians and outstanding international artists in the Troldsalden and composer homes of Grieg, Bull and Sæverud at Troldhaugen, Lysøen and Siljustøl. Funds and collaboration from the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB – Dextra Musica is also involved in making the mentoring programme Crescendo possible. The Bergen International Festival thanks The DNB Savings Bank Foundation – Dextra Musica for the support. B ER G EN I N T ER N AT I ON AL FEST I VAL 2019 GC Rieber Foundations provide sup- port for non-profit social and cultural purposes, preferably in Bergen. In addition, contributions are made to medical and other research. Among many good cultural initiatives, the Funds have given priority to support- ing local young talent, especially in music. This is to ensure the further development of a broad cultural life in the city for the future. The fund is particularly engaged, through support and follow-up, of ini- tiatives that are aimed at the vulner- able in the population. Contributing to good and dignified care for the elderly, including music therapy, is such a purpose. The Bergen International Festival thank GC Rieber Foundations for the support. Herman Friele Herman Friele is a renowned busi- nessman and politician with his heart in both Bergen and the festival, who wishes to contribute to the further development of the festival. This year, Friele supports the concert Philharmonix – The Vienna Berlin Music Club (p. 73). This unique ensemble will serve its audience a deliciously heady cocktail of classical, klezmer, Latin, even pop music and yes, good old fun. Bergen International Festival is grate- ful to Herman Friele for his support. 105 The Fritt Ord Foundation is a non- profit private foundation whose par- amount objective, is to protect and promote freedom of expression and the environment for freedom of expression in Norway, particularly by encouraging lively debate and the dauntless use of the free word. With support from the Fritt Ord Foun- dation, Dialogues is continued, a debate programme that will help to mirror and highlight important tendencies and issues in the present time, based on the festival's widely branched programme. The Bergen International Festival thanks the Fritt Ord Foundation for the support. ASAF ANDERS SVEAAS’ ALMENNYTTIGE FOND The purpose of Anders Sveaas' Almennyttige Fond (ASAF) is to contribute to charitable purposes, including scholarships for young Norwegian musicians and lending of string instruments. ASAF owns a col- lection of string instruments that are preferably lent to prominent young Norwegian talent. Several of the musicians can often be experienced as part of the festival programme. During our concert series in the composer homes, the festival both continues and renews the European salon concert tradition, where we, with the support of ASAF, continue to promote young musicians. The festival is grateful for the support we have received from ASAF to con- duct concerts with young performers in the home of composers. WWW.FI B.N O/EN 105
