Oldschool with Absence

Hip-breaking acrobatics , humour and rebellion at the retirement home .
One day break-dancers Absence wake up to discover that time has passed by and they are in a retirement home . When they realize that they have grown old , they refuse to accept it . Even if the body isn ’ t willing , the six break-dancers in Absence rebel against time and the carers in the retirement home . Oldschool is a production about life ’ s joys and impermanence that puts life into perspective .
With the help of break-dance , humour and a good dose of hip-breaking acrobatics , the Bergen-based crew show that growing old doesn ’ t have to mean becoming boring .

Festival Square bubbles over with food from all corners of the world .
In collaboration with the Bergen International Festival , BIKS and Det felles invandrerråd Hordaland host a food market where the public can buy reasonably priced food from 20 different countries . This tasty morsel from RIFF includes artistic performances from Bergen and other parts of the world . After the aperitif at Festival Square , RIFF continues at Logen Theatre with even more music and dance at 19:00 ( see page 19 ).
Artists and performers supply entertainment for all ages , while the various food stands serve large and small delicacies . This is the third RIFF event , but the first time an abundant food menu and outdoor programme is offered . The concept is centred on grand words such as roots , identity , difference and fellowship , but is first and foremost a boundless celebration of music for the feet , head , heart and of course , stomach . Bon appétit !
