Bending Reality Magazine October | Page 63

A chill is in the air, warm feelings are coming soon. Before you dive into that pumpkin pie, let's talk about things that I hate, hmmm? As always, I must give the following disclaimer. All "Things That I hate" are mine and in no way represent Bending Reality Magazine or anyone related in it except me. Now that's done, let's get started shall we? The theme for this edition is the autumn season. What do I think when I think of this season? I think of traditions. Some traditions are normal, while there are some that even if they are traditional, I do not understand why they do that. With that, we shall get started.

Our first topic has to do with Black Thursday/Friday. On Thanksgiving Day, we go visit our friends and family, enjoy time with those we might not see that often, enjoy some great food, and enjoying the quality time of this holiday. Once that's all done, the shopping begins, thus Black Thursday/Friday. This is what I hate about it. The stores open up around 8 pm or later with the big sales. There's always a big crowd waiting at the front doors, waiting for the time to get in there. While it can be crazy, especially with the hot new items out there, it can be fun. If you're not used to go shopping right after Thanksgiving, then you know what I am talking about.

The second topic has to do with football. There's the tradition of a couple teams that have their games on Thanksgiving Day. While this is good, there wasn't any football at night. I hated that big time. Fortunately, NFL Network fixed that. Now people can watch football on thanksgiving night thanks to that station. With everything going in the NFL lately, this is one of the good things that they did.

The third topic has to do with the weather in a way. The weather can change very quickly. As I mentioned in the last "Things That I Hate", the weather can change in an instant. While this is true, I'm sure we love to get into a pile of leaves and jump into them when you were a kid. I cannot recall doing that. Anyway, you want to go jump in a pile of leaves, but instead, you see all the leaves gone. What happened you ask? Simple. The leaves have not been raked! You hate this, but you got to do some labor work, and get it done so you can do it. I hate it, but it can be fun.

Before we wrap it up, I'd like to talk about that last thing I hate in a comic way. In "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", Charlie Brown is just finished raking leaves while Snoopy is blowing one extra leaf on top of the pile. Linus is next to a tree has a sucker in his hand when he decides to say "Charge!" and heads to jump into the leaves! When he lands, he sees Charlie Brown and Snoopy looking angry at Linus for ruining the pile and says to Charlie Brown with a bunch of leaves around his mouth, "Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker." Now if you excuse me, I got some chocolate muffins to make! I'll explain more of what I mean in the next issue! So long everyone!
