Once you have acquired enough items to sell them for TTs you can purchase your very own Scav-Scanner in the NuVO Market (the little red basket icon). With the new technologies currently known you can now scavenge items from much deeper down below the surface to get additional items such as Copper. On occasion you may dig up some TTs, and if you are really lucky some NNs. You will still have to hand pick logs and cloth, however, while the Scav-Scanner can pick up stones along with the ores.
When you have reached level 10 you can head on over to the cave on Sunset Isle by the Lodge (check the large map by clicking M on your keyboard outside of the chat box. Use M again to close it) and try your luck at some additional materials, namely iron.
