Be afraid, be very afraid! It's the 5th edition of Things that I hate! Close and lock your windows! Bolt your doors! Prepare for an onslaught of things that might entertain you or shock you. As always, I must give the following disclaimer. All things I hate are from me only and in no way represent the views of Bending Reality Magazine. Surfs up dudes and dudettes for this edition of Things that I hate involve summer fun! Let's get started shall we?

The first one has to do with vacations. Specifically, planning to go to the amusement park which is a popular place to go during the summer as well as other places. You get there and you want to go on the newest thrill ride there is since you're considered a thrill junkie. The only problem is your friend isn't a thrill junkie (I'm that kind of person.) Don't you hate when you have to agree not to go on that ride because you're not the one who's scared, but your friend is. Now then, this happens to all of us. What to do? A few things could be done. First, you couldn't take your friend to the amusement park since you know they won't enjoy it. While this makes sense, it's not a good idea so skip it. A better way is to ask the friend to go sit on a bench near the ride or pick an area where you will meet your friend after the ride is over. This makes more sense.

The second one also has to do with vacations. You're at your home or hotel room, ready to go to the beach. When you get there, you realize you forgot something we all tend to forget during the summer. That would be sunblock. What happens when you don't take the sunblock? Very simple. You can get sunburned very easily. It is reported that getting too much sun can even cause skin cancer, so make sure to take that sunblock. Worse thing besides what I mentioned is returning back not to have any aloe vera which is a good way to treat sunburnt skin. SO make sure to take everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach. Make sure you're careful though.

The third has to do with the movie theater. As I mentioned in the last edition of things that I hate, the price of everything is going up. For this, we're not talking about the movie tickets which can be pricy but prices are understood. Instead, we are talking about the price of the snacks inside the movie theater. You know what I'm talking about. You want to get a popcorn, nachos, candy bar, soda, and the normal things you want. Now while they are good theatre food, the problem with this is how much it costs. I don't know how much it costs for the person who buys the popcorn first before selling it to the consumer, but it's ridiculous! How to fix this? You could wait for the DVD of the movie to come out which comes out later after the time at the movie theatre ends for the movie which is ok but not really good, unless your patient. A better idea is first go to a matinee which is cheaper than at night. Also, only get what you need. You don't want to spend that much money on snack food anyway.

For the last one of this edition, we need to go back into time. This one has to do with the movie theater. Back in 80s, there were plenty of places to go see a movie, whether it be at the drive-in movie theater which is so rare these days or go to the local movie theater. Now while this was a good idea back then, let's go ahead in time. Most of the small local movie theaters close because one with many more screens comes to the city. While I hate this personally, it's progress. Nothing can be done about it. I know there are people who are trying to bring back the local small movie theatres in the states. Prices are cheaper for movies at the small theatre. Go to one of those instead of the big ones. You'll enjoy the same movie and save some money!

Got a bonus one for you folks. This one actually happened today, June 28. Have you ever been asked to go to a performance in a city that's like 90 miles or so away? That happened to me today. I thought I'd missed where this place is. To my surprise, it was past the city instead of before the city which was a good thing. When I got there, things would go from ok to meh to ugly. I got there about 45 minutes before practice. It was raining off and on today which makes it meh. Summer showers are nice but in can be a bore at times. Eventually, practice starts. It was a bit hard for everyone while I was there. The music was flying from the stand because of the wind and it was getting wet out there. I was working on one piece when some of my music blew from my stand. I took a break to reorganize it then went back to play. I thought I would be one of a few there. Instead, there was five people in the percussion section. The lady who was next to me couldn't do that good, but I didn't say anything. When we got to one song, I thought it was something that I knew. Instead, it was something completely different. After the piece had ended, I threw down my drumsticks in a rage and yelled. I personally hate when this happens. I found out later that this was a volunteer thing, so I wasn't needed. I quickly got my things and left the area. I will be seeing those who defiantly need my help on Monday for I got a performance on the 4th. I'm feeling better now. Don't you hate when you get into a situation like this where you think you wasted your time? While I feel that's what happened, I remained calm and went back home.

This concludes this edition of things that I hate. If you excuse me, I'm going to go read a book! Be safe all!
