AT AGRI CAREERS FAIR
Attended by some 7000 students in search of their
dream job in the agricultural industry, the recent
Agri Careers Fair held at the RDS, Dublin was seen by
Fyffes Ireland as the Ideal showcase for its popular
graduate management programme. Described as a
one-stop shop for those seeking to kick-start a career
in the field of agriculture of horticulture, jobseekers
visiting the Fyffes stand had the opportunity to
discover first hand if they have what it takes to
succeed in this exciting and challenging industry.
Talking to the Fyffes team, students learned about
the Company’s placement scheme in the Central
American countries of Belize, Costa Rica and Panama
where, through on-the-ground training, graduates
get to develop an in-depth knowledge of the
tropical fruit supply chain. Ciaran Sweeney, General
Manager at Fyffes Ripening and Distribution Centre
in Swords, himself a graduate of the Company’s
programme, said: ‘Applicants who are accepted on
our programme get the opportunity to experience
all the challenges we face in bringing our products to
the shelves in perfect
22
condition, from soil preperation to seeding,
production, harvesting, packaging, logistics,
ripening, quality control and distribution.’
Further information on the Graduate
Management Programme is available through
the Company’s new Linkedin page.
