What are the entry requirements?
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with at least a Full Leaving Certificate or Level 5 certificate.
However, there is no age limit and should someone have relevant work experience and a passion for ICT,
this would be taken into consideration. It is important that the candidates posses technical capability and
demonstrate an aptitude for learning.

Since the launch of Ireland’s new ICT tech apprenticeships,
industry support has been outstanding. As the digital
transformation captures the attention of companies
nationwide, we are excited to share industry involvement
and support in reaching top-tech talent via the
apprenticeship route.
Currently there are three individual Tech Apprenticeship
programmes aimed at attracting candidates with an interest
in Software Development, Network Engineering and Cyber
Security. All three programmes have significant on-the-job
elements and were developed with the needs of industry in
mind.

The great news is that there is none! We are recruiting all year round so be sure to get your students on our
radar by completing an application form on the website. They will then be invited to an information session
with the FIT team in due course.
Where are the courses run?
All of the off-the-job learning will take place in Education and Training Boards (ETBs) nationwide with the on-
the-job learning carried out by the apprenticeship sponsor company. The first phase of courses is taking
place in Dublin and Cork with plans to roll-out all around Ireland in the coming months.
Which student traits would indicate suitability for the programme?
The apprenticeship is suitable for those enjoy practical learning, have an aptitude and passion for IT and are
keen to enter the world of work.
What level of mathematics must I have?
All participants who are applying for our tech apprenticeships must have a minimum of a full leaving
certificate which includes a pass in Mathematics and English at ordinary level, to be eligible for the
programme.
When and how can I apply?
You can apply for our Tech Apprenticeships at any time and once we begin recruiting for your chosen
programme, you will be invited to an information and aptitude session.
