These enterprising first year students developed a clever modified stirrup tread for horseriding to help with foot positioning of the horse-rider. AMOR’s product is an attachable modified stirrup tread that can be put on and taken off any normal stirrup. It ensures the foot is in the correct position and is easy to take your foot in and out of. In 2016 two young entrepreneurs from Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana in County Donegal won the prestigious top prize in the Intermediate Category of the Student Enterprise Awards. Sean Og Harrigan and Oisin Mc Laughlin wowed the judging panel with their bespoke hand-made wooden crafts that included bowls, lamps, candlesticks and cheese boards. Luke Byrne, from Coláiste Chraobh Abhainn in Co. Wicklow developed a winning business idea called Headphone Helpers – an innovative silicone band that stops your earphones from falling and getting tangled. The band has two small loops at the end that your earphones simply fit through and the band comfortably rests around your neck, thus keeping your earphones from falling down and getting tangled. This means that when the earphones fall out of your ears they only fall to a certain height. www.headphonehelpers.com Inish Woodworking – Intermediate Category Winners 2016 59
