We teach them
“how to think…now what to think”, best
preparing them for the unpredictability
of the future challenges they will face in
our constantly changing world.
Our mission is to nourish a lifelong love of learning
through Science in all our children (“Junior
Einsteins”), igniting their natural curiosity by
providing, exciting, engaging, experimental
practical STEM experiences, professionally
delivered in a structured, safe, supervised,
educational and fun environment.
Through bespoke science-based programmes
(Experiments/Curriculum) we develop children’s
personal confidence and self-esteem.
We promote creative thinking, teamwork,
imagination and problem-solving abilities.
ReelLIFE SCIENCE is a science
video competition for Primary and
Secondary Schools, Community
Groups, Youth Groups and Clubs
based in Ireland. Participants of all
ages are challenged to make an
entertaining and engaging three
minute science video, to be in
with a chance of winning €1000
for their school or group and have
their video screened for the public
at the Galway Science and
Technology Festival.
Since launching in 2013, more
than 9,000 science-loving
students, teachers and community
group members, in 300 schools
and groups around Ireland, have
taken part in ReelLIFE SCIENCE.
In that time, more than €15,000
has been given directly to schools
and community groups for their
STEM programmes and activities,
while the videos produced
continue to have a huge audience,
via TV, public screenings and
online views in over 130 countries.
ReelLIFE SCIENCE aims to
increase the public’s engagement
with science and technology in a
creative way, by encouraging
participants to research and
communicate a scientific topic via
a fun three minute video. Videos
can be live-action or animated, in
English or Irish, and can be made
using cameras, tablets or
smartphones.
Teachers have said the project
enabled them to “step outside the
curriculum” and “contributed to
skill development and pupil
enjoyment of science” while it was
also “a great opportunity for
students who can struggle with
literacy in conventional projects to
produce something they were
proud to show to others.”
“I got to use my
talent/hobby.
And, I learned a
lot of Science
stuff!!!”
Anna (TY Student)
Selecting this year’s winning videos is
a very special panel of Guest Judges,
including comedian and TV presenter
Dara Ó Briain, aeronautical engineer
and astronaut-candidate Norah Patten
and BT Young Scientist winner, Simon
Meehan.
The closing date for submissions is
Friday October 19th and the best
videos at each level (primary school,
secondary school, community group)
will be announced during Science
Week 2018. Winning filmmakers will
be invited to attend a public screening
and awards ceremony at the Galway
Science and Technology Festival in
NUI Galway on November 25th.
