Update
A New Europass
Framework
In April 2018, the EU member states
adopted the Commission's proposal to
revise the Europass framework and
develop a new framework which will offer
intuitive, modern tools and where users
will be able to access a full range of
services on skills and qualifications in a
single location.
The new Europass will:
> offer services to enable people
identify and communicate their
skills and qualifications, such as
an enhanced tool for creating CVs
and portfolios, as well as self-
assessment tools to help
individuals understand the value
of their skills;
> also include a range of relevant
information on learning
opportunities, qualifications and
guidance.
The Europass Framework will also work
with other services across the labour and
education and training systems to allow
an easier exchange of information and
data. Europass will continue to evolve
over time in line with users' needs and
make best use of technology. (Source:

Europass activity in Ireland:
Focus on Europass Mobility
Document (EM)
The Europass Mobility Document is intended for recording
any organised period that a person spends in another
European country for the purposes of formal learning or
training. Both students and their teachers engaging in
exchange activities within the EU use this document. Around
500 Mobility Documents were completed by participants from
the further education and training sector last year in Ireland.
The Mobility document contains information regarding the
individual, the purpose and duration of the mobility
experience, the training and skills acquired
abroad etc. In 2018 Mobility
Documents have already
been issued to students
travelling to France,
Finland, Germany,
Greece, Italy, Spain,
Poland, Romania,
Slovenia and the
United Kingdom.
