Marie Therese was abandoned to a life of misery in a Nazareth House Orphanage, one of the institutions investigated by the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry. Prolific author Martin will be reading from This Cruel Station. The stories explore what it is like to be Irish in today’s society. Inspired by observations and interactions, Malone has created a series of authentic and evocative voices that are both brave and daring, yet fearful. Helena’s debut short story was shortlisted for the Hennessy New Irish Writing Award. Over 20 of her stories have since been internationally anthologised, including one that was shortlisted for the Pushcart Prize and another for the Francis MacManus Short Story Award.
