An Ojibwe artist from Ontario, Canada William Monague has successfully established a career as one of Canada’s more prolific Aboriginal painters.

Beginning over 20 years ago, William has produced countless paintings which include signature hallmarks and themes of artistry found in Ojibwe culture.These include stylized flowers and animals which are also found in examples of beadwork and leatherwork among the Ojibwe people. Nature and family themes are also prominent in William’s work which is also highlighted by precise design and the abundant use of colour.

Behind the Front Door is pleased to include a selection of images from William’s extensive catalogue.

William also discusses the process in which he works, as well as some of his influences.
