Protein – The building blocks of the human body The function of protein is to help the body maintain optimum health. Protein has a range of important functions in the body, which consist of the following: ? Protein is a source of energy. ? Protein helps keep skin, hair, and nails healthy. ? If a person has a P goal of weight loss or maintaining a healthy weight range, then a high metabolism is important. Making sure that the correct amount of protein is being consumed is crucial.
