The project was executed in two phases with a very tight programme which required the team to meet numerous deadlines to complete the various sections. The mall's upgraded entrances and new veil cladded external façades draw visitors with its eye-catching appearance. Among the new additions to its fashion offering are trendy fashion retailers Forever New, Kurt Geiger and Factorie, all of which add to the ultimate shopping experience. Valued at R245 million, this project further solidifies the NMC Construction Groups’ positioning in the retail sector. The scope of works on the project comprised of the construction of a new build section to the mall and a parking level. In addition, renovations to the old mall included an upgrade of ablutions as well as the refurbishment of new retail stores and the Due to multiple contractors having to work in different areas at the same time, effective planning and coordination was key in order to achieve optimal performance. In doing this, each contractor could achieve their goals with minimal disruption. Of the 200 plus stores in the mall, over 60 were moved and/or refurbished during the project. The East Rand Mall team has done a great job.
