installation of the stunning new ceiling
structures (read more in the left panel).
The project was executed in two phases
with a very tight programme which
required the team to meet numerous
deadlines to complete the various
sections.
The mall's upgraded entrances and new
veil cladded external façades draw visitors
with its eye-catching appearance. Among
the new additions to its fashion offering
are trendy fashion retailers Forever New,
Kurt Geiger and Factorie, all of which add
to the ultimate shopping experience.
Valued at R245 million, this project further
solidifies the NMC Construction Groups’
positioning in the retail sector. The scope

Due to multiple contractors having to
work in different areas at the same time,
effective planning and coordination was
key in order to achieve optimal
performance. In doing this, each
contractor could achieve their goals with
minimal disruption. Of the 200 plus stores
in the mall, over 60 were moved and/or
refurbished during the project.
The East Rand Mall team has done a great
job. Successfully completing this project

“Working with a number of stakeholders
on a project with so many variables was
challenging. Trying to accommodate all
parties from consultants to client, tenants
to the public took extensive planning.
A word of thanks goes out to our clients
Redefine and Vukile for their support
during the project. They played a
fundamental part in the overall success of
the project. Also to the principal agents,
SIP for their drive to provide the client
with a good product, something that has
been complimented by the public while we
were performing our operations.
We had a strong team and a big thank you
to everyone for their commitment and
dedication on this project. We hope that
we all can form part of another successful
venture.” Fernando Sboro, Contracts
Manager.
