NMC Construction Namibia awarded
multi-million residential development
Parking solutions as we
know it has evolved, with
the introduction of the
demountable parking
solution. This innovative

The expansion of the V&A
Waterfront Silo District brought
along with it an increased demand
for additional parking in the area.
The V&A Waterfront required a
parking facility that could be easily
relocated in the future when a
viable commercial development
becomes available for the site.
Scope of works include,
construction of a three level car
park comprising of a structural steel
frame structure with pre-cast
concrete floor slabs. The structure
will provide 590 parking bays.
“The NMC Construction Group is
proud to be associated with such a
ground-breaking project. The team
are working on an extremely tight
programme of only four months.
With the support and cooperation
of our sub-contractors and the
efficient design by MLB, utilising
structural steel and pre-cast
concrete, we are on programme to
have the project completed in time
for the busy festive season in
December 2016.
Thank you to the team for their
hard work and commitment to the
project thus far. “Michael Birch,
Senior Site Manager.
Gauteng teams keep their environment clean
in preserving our planet. The terms ‘Going
Green’ and the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle) have fast become a crucial part of
operations in the construction industry.

Our environment is volatile, with the
constant changes in the atmosphere we
need to take cognisance of the role we play
NMC teams in the Gauteng region used the
month of September to highlight the
importance of these environmental aspects
t h ro u g h h o s t i n g a n e nv i ro n m e n t a l
competition. The competition had a
theoretical component where teams had to
answer environmental questions related to
their site regarding compliance to
regulations, disposal of waste etc. The
second component was hands-on, teams
had to come up with initiatives to improve
and promote environmental awareness.
Some of the initiatives implemented
included teams collecting litter in the areas
around their sites, cleaning manholes and
extensive site clean ups.
Congratulations to the Cresta Mall team
who won the competition for their ‘Keeping
Cresta Clean’ initiative, keep up the good
work and stay green.
Saving lives with SAFEtember
SAFEtember is an initiative that was launched by
The Federated Employer’s Mutual Assurance
Company (FEM) at the Master Builders South
Africa (MBSA) Congress in September 2015. The
initiative was launched in response to an urgent
need to bring awareness within the industry on
the soaring number of motor vehicle accidents
(MVAs). FEM are working in close collaboration
with MBSA as well as the South African Forum of
Civil Engineering Contractors to drive this
campaign and reduce the number of MVAs in the
industry.
