Book Review: Timeless Wire Weaving Reviewed by Cynthia Machata I have been marveling at Lisa Lynn’s wire work for months now, and so when I saw she had published a book it took me about two seconds to run over to Amazon and hit the purchase button. I have to say now just how glad I am that I did. Sometimes I buy books purely for the inspiration because the eye candy is just too yummy. And every now and again I find a book that I know is going to be a teaching guide for years to come. Lisa Lynn’s book is just that. It is full of pictures that are very descriptive step-by-step instruction. You can tell she is extremely experienced in teaching this technique. I flipped through the book, front to back and then back to front, several times over the course of roughly a week. And then I went into the studio and got started. I am comfortable with wire wrapping as I’ve taken a few classes and have been using this technique for years now. But I have never done anything like wire weaving. I decided to demonstrate on myself the power of this book as a teaching guide. I am very much a visual learner. And so I found her pictorial layouts perfect. There are, of course, written instruction accompanying each project which I also found quite helpful. But I really enjoy the step-bystep photos. I am sharing with you my very first wire weave focal. No, it is not perfect. But I’m sharing it nonetheless. Some might cringe at the thought of putting your very first effort (ever) in a magazine. But hey, it is all in the spirit of a learning experience. I spent roughly 3 hours working this design, so I’m not winning any awards there, but I am really happy with how easily I understood the instruction in this book. It was as if I’d sat in class with Lisa Lynn. I’m giving her new book high marks, for sure. I know this one will be dogeared and hanging out on my bead table for some time to come. If you are interested in this technique then this is an excellent place to start. Buy it on Amazon HERE creativebeadchat.com
