Alumni Attitude Survey
As a member, your opinion matters–
please share it with us! In the near
future, you will receive the Alumni
Attitude survey via an e-mail link. Your
responses will assist us in programming
that supports The Beach.
Let’s aim to have the highest number of
responses because Beach alumni are
the best! Other CSU alumni offices
will send similar surveys this fall and
the aggregate campuses results will
be compared with each other.
Remember to update your e-mail
address if we don’t have it.
■ Nominate a Distinguished
Alumnus/a
Our Distinguished Alumni have proudly
carried the lessons and traditions of
CSULB into life after college, becoming
leaders in their fields and champions
of vital social initiatives. Recipients
of the CSULB Alumni Association’s
highest honor are a source of pride
for the Beach family.
Help us recognize the next class of
Distinguished Alumni by submitting a
nomination form, found online at
csulb.edu/distinguished. The deadline
for 2018 nominations is November 6.

Increased CCPE Discount
Interested in furthering your education? CSULB’s College of Continuing & Professional
Education offers a range of degrees, professional development certificates, and
international education opportunities, and Alumni Association members now enjoy an
increased discount of 30% on all programs. CCPE students will soon take their on-
campus classes in a new 35,000 square-foot building, which broke ground in Spring 2017.
■
Partnerships
The Alumni Association continues to build campus relationship to bring valuable
opportunities to alumni. Attendees of the College of Education’s Better Together:
California Teachers Summit in July enjoyed an exclusive alumni reception following the
association-sponsored event, and our collaboration with the Student Life &
Development Office made a Leadership Academy workshop series available to students
and alumni. Look for more of life and career-enhancing collaborations in fall.
■
Alumni Grants
A grand total of $49,225 was awarded to 10 campus programs in the 27th Annual
Alumni Grants Program. Significant funding was given to support initiatives such
as new smart room equipment for athletics, cutting edge Microsoft HoloLens
“mixed reality” technology for the Biomedical Engineering department, and UAV
(“drone”) technology to upgrade the department of Geology’s Geospatial Applications.
