Speaker's Corner: Matt Rowland-Jones

Why Sydney is a Big Deal

I was asked this month to write a short piece about bChannels highlights over the last few months. A surprisingly tough job, as we have so much going on as a company that it’s hard to choose highlights. Australia office? Big client wins in the US with Cisco and HP? The summer do in Oxford? Here are a few personal highlights that came to mind.

Talking to Sofia just before she went off to Oz. It was just the day before she left and we got the chance to talk about her time at bChannels and the upcoming transfer to Sydney. Why a highlight? Because it struck me just how a growing company like bChannels can offer opportunity for people at every level in the business. Opportunity to develop professionally and personally, and the possibility to do something life-changing when the chance comes along.

Highlight number two. Interviewing our client Greg Mitchell at Cisco in the US. I did this for a client reference, and Benjamin helped by providing a camera to put it on video. You can never be quite sure what a person is going to say when you put a camera in front of them, so it was a little nerve wracking. But I need not have worried. Listening to a client explain the value of bChannels, and their

commitment to us as a business, is a powerfu

l thing. And I’m guessing I could make a video

of most of our clients and hear the same. Which

is something to be proud of.

Highlight number three. Microsoft. It’s been

seven years since we worked for Microsoft and

last week we got a Purchase Order for a small

project in the UK which means we can add them

back to our client list. It’s not like our client list

needs more big names, as it’s full of them

already, but every new one makes me smile!

I’m sure you can think of other highlights of

your own. I’m looking forward to creating more

over the coming months.

Matt
