“ This a great high school- we’re the best in the nation! My teachers are supportive, and I made close friends with my fellow baseball players. We’re like a family! I’ve learned that I can think critically and problem solve; even though I may not have all the answers, I know how to find solutions. I’ve learned to be responsible and to believe in myself. I know I’ll succeed in this next chapter of my life. Next year, I’ll attend Haywood Community College, then transfer to Western Carolina. “ D akota J ohnston A.C. I want to one day become an interpreter, or possibly a firefighter! I attended the Newcomer Center when I first arrived in the United States. I learned a lot of English there, as well as at Erwin High School. There are so many great teachers- and my school counselor- that have helped me along my way. I am grateful for all they have done to help me graduate from high school! “ “ R oduel E namorado B autista Clyde A. Erwin High School “ I have loved my time here at Community High School. My teachers are so supporti ve- both academically and emotionally. I would not have made it this far without their support. I was so quiet and shy growing up. The teachers here have helped build my self-esteem and have encouraged me to set high goals and work hard for them. Next year, I’ll attend Johnson C. Smith University to study pre-med to be a neonatal nurse. “ D estine P atterson Community High School 11 11
