Deborah Lipstadt , whose book was the inspiration behind the recent major film , Denial which you ' ll view . The film tells the story of when Lipstadt is accused of libel by World War II historian , David Irving , after including him in her book about Holocaust deniers , thus sparking a major legal battle for historical truth . Stand UP : Hunger - Jewish Family Services , Jewish Family Services of Greater Dallas Looking for a chance to do some good while enriching your mind , too ? Do your part to give back to our IC 2017 host community by joining Jewish Family Services ( JFS ) to help families from across North Dallas . The JFS mission is to provide mental health and social services that promote lifelong self-sufficiency and wellbeing for anyone in need . After an opportunity to engage with JFS as they provide an in-depth look at the hunger epidemic , participants in this session will engage in hands-on direct service projects supporting and interacting with those in need . Stand UP : Hunger - The North Texas Food Bank , North Texas Food Bank Food insecurity is real . It ’ s a state in which consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year . In this session , you will hear from Repair the World as they facilitate a deep dive into the existence of food deserts , food swamps and food apartheids throughout the local and global community . After understanding the ways in which you can tackle food insecurity in your community , participants will engage in hands-on service work with the North Texas Food Bank to help package and prepare food items to be shared with families in need .
