I love the entrepreneurial spirit here on campus. It empowers my students to take what they’ve learned in class and immediately act on it. It’s such an inspiring environment to be in. How does your experience impact your classroom? During my career I have taken on a range of roles, from within the U.S. Department of State and the National Security Council, at The White House, but my core skills and knowledge that I bring to the classroom are concentrated in strategic influence, tri-sector engagement, and tackling emerging risks. What are the benefits of studying your subjects? “My teaching style is impassioned, unorthodox, and above all, practical. I love to keep things topical—in any given class we always discuss why this matters now and for the future of business.” 40 My aim and passion is to bring the real world into the classroom. Regardless of your major, everyone needs to understand how to work effectively across genders, sectors, and cultures. My career has taken me to teams and projects in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America—so believe me, knowing corporate diplomacy is important. What is one piece of advice you’d give to the next generation of business leaders? Find something you are passionate about, and then pursue it fearlessly.
