Famous for his bold and striking use of colour, Mark John Maguire here presents us with a night scene in a high-rise city restaurant in which emotions are delineated almost exclusively through his use of colour: the environing blue and the careful balancing of colours across the picture, forms a central dominant triangle around the man and woman, which brings us to a comprehension of the vitality of this relationship. A woman has turned towards a man who passes by, who also acknowledges her, and there is a moment of recognition, fleeting, yet eloquent, between them. The woman's partner is oblivious to this sudden recognition and becomes part of the scenery excluded from this "moment" between them.
