Steven

Rob, how did you get to be such a great skier? I mean, a lot of people ski and they become moderately great. But, you have become supreme. You just know when you go down the hill here at Mount St. Louis Moonstone that it is Rob Huter. You literally are the best skier that I have ever skied with. And I thank you for giving me lessons at such a young age. I still remember my first helicopter on skis it was through your teachings that enabled me to learn.

Rob

I definitely have my own unique style that some people say is a good style. I am able to adapt to the terrain. I would say a lot of it came from the help of my dad. Skiing with him afforded me the opportunity to learn when I was a very young boy. My father, too, had his own unique style. Hopefully, that style will carry on his tradition.

Steven

Rob, do you teach your children how to ski?

Rob

I have personally given them a few pointers. I have been fortunate, because, we run a ski resort to get the ski school to take my children out to get them to learn the basics. After that I was able to have all the fun with them and give them a few pointers a long the way. I have put lots of miles on the slopes with them. Along with that, we have been able to travel all over North America. My wife Sarah, and I, really enjoy skiing together with our children.

Steven

Rob, how many children do you and Sarah have?

Rob

Steven, Sarah and I have four children. My oldest son is Nicholas, 17, Jacob is 16, Lukas is 7, and Charley Grace, she is 5. Steven, they all love to ski just like mom and dad, and I will say, Charley Grace at the age of 4, last spring, was skiing down some really steep hills.

Steven

So, when you are not skiing here at Mount St. Louis Moonstone, where do you ski outside of Ontario?

Rob

Well, recently we did a road trip that took us through many great ski resorts outside of Ontario. We went to Mont-Tremblant, Sugarloaf Mountain, Killington Resort, Okemo Mountain, Sugarbush, and then finished at Jay Peak, which is a 4 season resort in Northern Vermont.

Steven

Now, Rob, as I think of those ski resorts in particular Mont-Tremblant, Killington, Sugarbush and Jay Peak, which I have skied before may times, how do you compare Mount St. Louis Moonstone? or, what would you say is the unique thing about these ski resorts?

Rob

The unique thing about it is that it has the European flavor, and I think that is what sets it apart from all the other resorts in Eastern North America.

Steven

Now for me Skiing Mount St. Louis Moonstone, brings back family memories. Those childhood memories that you carry forever. Tell me, Rob, the importance about skiing in relationship with families and the social bonding skiing offers. Do you feel this is needed more today now with the growing use of computers in our modern day society?

Rob

Well, I relate it to my family. We are always taking about skiing, where we have gone, and where we would like to go. We ride the char lift up together. Nicholas and Jacob like to do their own thing. And they will go in there own direction. Later on we meet back at the bottom of the ski hill where we reconnect and ride the chair lifts together. We meet at a designated time and location on the mountain and we all have lunch together. At the end of the day, we discuss the skiing and all the highlights of what we all wish to talk about.

Steven, the other thing I really enjoy when we are going on a ski trip is the unknown that comes along with exploring a ski mountain. Whether we are just going by the trail map, or, seeing what is new and exciting on our own.

As I sit here I am listening to Robert and it is starting to snow. As Rob noticed this as well, it put a smile on both our faces.
