Are you eating naughty or nice this holiday season?  Enjoy the trimmings while actually trimming your waistline.  Really?!

Rejoice!  Yes, it is possible.  I have known weight loss counselors that actually guided everyday people, just like you and me, right through their holiday parties and homecomings, skating smoothly into the new year tipping the scales in their favor.

Dieting during the holidays?!  Let me start with this… the word “diet” isn't in my vocabulary, and neither is “resolutions.”  They don't make me, or anyone else I know for that matter, feel very warm and cozy.  They can, however, set you up to feeling more like the Grinch instead of jolly ole’ St. Nick when getting tempted and feeling deprived.

Rule number one!   Don't arrive at your festivities with the appetite of eight reindeer that have flown all night long!

Eat lots of fiber at breakfast and lunch. Oatmeal with bananas and walnuts or apples and cinnamon along with a cup of black coffee for breakfast is a great start!  And a large, leafy green salad with some protein (i.e., tuna, salmon, chicken, or turkey) for lunch.

Juicing is a great way to go both in the morning and throughout the day. Don't have a juicer?  Grab some low-sodium V-8 juice and have a few tall glasses of that for breakfast or lunch.

Drinking at least 16 ounces of water with a fiber supplement right before you leave will be sure to give you that full feeling by the time you arrive and you won't be on the lookout for the nearest party tray.  It will also help absorb some of those extra fats and help to balance any sugars that you consume.
