the story

The year is 1853. Following the death of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Last King of Punjab and the Lion Emperor of the Five Rivers, India falls to the British Empire. The fabled Koh-I-Noor Diamond, a symbol of Sikh strength and pride, is stolen and brought to England where it is recut and set in Queen Victoria’s Crown as a mark of British domination in India.

Fast forward 150 years, and the Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s descendants want to return the stone to its rightful place at the Golden Temple. The Last King is a Canadian/Indie story of redemption for the Punjabi and the man who will risk love and life to honour their legacy.
