Bass Musician Magazine [cd review] Gipsy Kings the Savor Flamenco E spana, La Madre Patria! (Spain, the Mother country) is the crib from which all Latin music has emerged and blended with the many musical influences it has found along it’s way, as it has traveled the globe. When it came to selecting a CD to review for our Latin issue, what better choice than The Gipsy Kings’ 25th anniversary release, “Savor Flamenco!” This CD is their first album in six years and will be released this September. Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music and dance from Andalusia in southern Spain. This music grew from a combination of Andalusian and Romani music styles in the 1700s and is often associated with the Romani people or Gitanos (Gypsies). The Moorish tonal influences are quite notable and the general feel of this music is passionately hot! BASSMUSICIANMAGAZINE.COM / AUG 2013
