BARP Is On The Move! W elcome to the BARP on the Move E-newsletter which we hope will provide you with updates on BARP’s news and current affairs as well as articles relating to advocacy, active ageing, health and wellness, retirement and fitness. This E-newsletter will be published quarterly and is intended to supplement our other communications channels. As BARP continues to grow, not only in membership, but also in our widening responsibility as the voice of the over 50 population in Barbados, we are being called upon to represent your interests at the national and international level. We have recently reconstituted our committees with new terms of reference and already, they have started on their several tasks to improve our service to you. What’s New! With the help of these twelve committees, we will be intensifying our advocacy on issues that affect you; the continued push for improved and affordable health care through our relevant partnerships as well as to be more active in the area of consumer protection. By the time you have read this our first newsletter, we should be well on our way to acquiring new Headquarters which will serve our purposes well into the future and relieve the growing pressures at our present location. We hope that you enjoy the first issue of the BARP on the Move E-newsletter and we invite your contributions by way of suggestions or articles. This year marks BARP’s 20th Anniversary and from humble beginnings to over 44,000 members has been a tremendous journey!
