Virtual Card Services
Virtual Card Services - was established in 1996 to offer a solution to
the mail order market which found conventional methods of securing
large volumes of credit card payment cumbersome
and costly.
With more than 50 years’ collective experience in developing and
implementing credit, debit and smartcard processing systems for all
of the major card issuers in South Africa, Virtual Card Services was

exactly meets these needs.
The “Virtual Vendor” system, which was developed out of this need
interacts with a bank’s existing legacy systems, while meeting the
vendor’s increasing demands for automated, electronic transaction

a recognised player in the online payment gateway solution market,
enabling the e-commerce website to deal with credit card payments
effectively, securely and in real-time.
VCS has been providing a dedicated service that is fast and secure to
all their clients while remaining competitively cost efficient.
We at VCS are confident that we will continue our rate of growth
in the future and establish ourselves as the leading payment gateway
solutions company in South Africa.
VCS is a Reserve Bank Registered System Operator and a
Member of Association of System Operators.
Virtual Card Services acts as the intermediary between a vendor
and the financial institution via its “Virtual Vendor” system.
Two distinct services are offered, covering the full spectrum of both
credit card and bank account electronic authorisation and settlement.
These services include Virtual Online and Virtual
Debit Order.
Aside from the advantages in being able to process large numbers
of transactions at a time, the vendor no longer requires an Electronic
Data Capture (EDC) terminal and radio or telephone link to the
bank – this, in itself, offers cost savings to the vendor. All the vendor
requires in terms of infrastructure is access to the Internet and the
ability to send e-mail.
