Belinda Campbell Editor As 2018 comes to a close we present a bumper issue of BAMOS, celebrating a number of our AMOS members and their contributions to the AMOS sciences. This issue is packed with Award announcements, new roles for AMOS members (including two new AMOS Fellows), as well as two very special pieces acknowledging the life-long contributions of two eminent scientists in the AMOS community. Adventure is certainly another theme in this issue, with tales from wide and far, particularly in the form of journeys and scientific research on the RV Investigator and the Antarctic expedition of the Homeward Bound Women in STEMM leadership program. It is also fantastic to have the opportunity to highlight the many activities and events that have occurred around Australia related to the AMOS sciences over the past few months. No doubt you will enjoy reading the event reports, workshop summaries and conference highlights throughout the issue. We are continuing to use the survey results and other suggestions in improving BAMOS with each issue and we hope you enjoy the “Science summary” section in this issue, which highlights a recently published journal article. The research topic in this issue presents some fascinating insights into cloud formation (read it on page 34). Thank you to those who have provided feedback on the recent additions to BAMOS following the survey results, in particular the new “News” and “Seasonal snaps” sections. You may have noticed that the AMOS Social Media channels posted stories from the September issue of BAMOS in the weeks following its launch. We hope this activity will help to raise awareness of BAMOS and extend the reach of the publication further. As always, we welcome your contributions to the Bulletin and please also encourage your peers, colleagues and friends to subscribe to BAMOS or share the Social Media posts to help raise awareness. On behalf of the BAMOS Editorial team, we hope you enjoy this holiday reading pack and wish all BAMOS readers a wonderful festive season and fantastic year ahead in 2019.
