The award was presented by Emeritus Professor Mervyn Lynch (Curtin University), past chair of the AMOS Perth Centre. For her research report, Ronni conducted her own analysis of the atmospheric and oceanographic processes leading the 2010/2011 Ningaloo Niño event off the coast of Western Australia. Ronni is currently completing a double major in marine science and conservation and wildlife biology in hopes to pursue a research career exploring and developing ways to better understand and protect our oceans. Upon graduating later this year, she plans to undertake an honours project focusing on the marine biology of Coral Bay in WA, and hopes to pursue a PhD in the future. Ronni’s interest in meteorology was sparked by her father’s interest in the topic, being an airline pilot. The abstract from Ronni’s research is shown on the next page.
