SOLDIERS HILL ART WALK This ‘Art Walk’, an initiative of the Soldiers Hill Artist Collective, showcases both the art of local artists and the heritage buildings in the Soldiers Hill precinct. WHERE: A variety of shopfronts, businesses and private studios in the Soldiers Hill precinct. This includes Lydiard Street North, Armstrong Street North, MacArthur Street, and Doveton Street North. WHEN: Works in shopfronts can be viewed at any time. Works in businesses can be viewed during business hours. Private studios are open from 10am–4pm on weekends only. COST: Free MACARTHUR STREET PRIMARY SCHOOL TOURS Built in 1878, Macarthur Street Primary School has been providing quality education for 140 years. All parts of the original building are still in use. These tours provide a fascinating insight into the classical school buildings of the 19th Century and their transformation over the years. WHERE: 401 Macarthur Street, Soldiers Hill WHEN: Guided tours on the hour between 11am–3pm, Saturday and Sunday COST: Free. Refreshments available to purchase SACRED HEART CONVENT BALLARAT WELCOME CENTRE Take a tour with the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Centre team and the Mercy Sisters, and hear of and discuss the stories and history of the former Mercy Convent site.
