TOUR OF THE CHINESE CEMETERY
Take a guided walking tour of the Chinese section of the Ballarat New Cemetery
and learn about the Gum Loong Friendship Garden, Moongate and grave stones.
The cemetery is a rich source of information on the many aspects of traditional
Chinese culture including religious beliefs around dying, death and the after life and
how Chinese culture has contributed to the development of Ballarat since European
settlement.

BALLAARAT MECHANICS’ INSTITUTE
The Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute’s Heritage Reading Room and lending library will
feature themed displays from their collection, including a Max Harris Photography
Collection exhibition of historic car photos and stories.
