BAJAN SUN Bajan Sun Magazine JULY 2014 POETS Isis Blu If my palms aren't sweaty and I'm not shaking I'm not passionate about it plain and simple. I look the way I feel my face says it all. My smile is....well you would have to see it one of the many times it graces my face in a day . I am a child at heart which I love but I'm also very perceptive and that shows in my use of metaphoric imagery. My poetry to me is: " Energy through Imagery that causes you to Feel..." Iris Flow Charis Simon, made the unconscious leap from being an avid reader to becoming a lyrical, intelligent and conscious poet, also indulging in the are of “Spoken Word”. From an early age she was captivated and greatly engulfed by her love of written word and admired how a story could influence her imagination. Fine Twine Samantha Hazlewood has been writing poetry for 24 years... her brain is a canvas and her . her ink pots which she uses liberally. There is nothing confined about Samantha and her creativity can not be kept within the lines... it totally defies her mantra of being a wild child-free spirit....expressions of words is the heartbeat of her soul. Kersha I inhale words and exhale poetry. I'm passionate about poetry and all forms of expression. I'm a poet and spoken word artist, and a lover of semicolons worldwide. As age and experience ran it’s course, she threw her hat in the ring to put her literary genius to good use and performed for the first time at the “Mahalia’s Corner” open mic in 2012. Her rendition was called “Mistress of Metaphor” and her well received performance gave birth to her stage name “Iris Flow”, her love for poetry and Spoken Word grew. At age 28 the artist has performed at several open mic’s across the island and has been an influence to many and an inspiration to artist in her field. So much so that she co-hosted “passionate flow” at the South Coast Daiquiri & Grill with Robert Gibson and as she explains her love for poetry runs deeper than just writing it. “I wanted to expand the interest of the spoken word field” says Iris Flow and help to create another medium where people can come out and showcase talent in Barbados. The Creation process for the artist knows no limits as she immerses herself daily into writing, creating, researching and transferring her feelings into art. www.bajansunonline.com/MAGAZINE/ | [email protected] | @BajanSunOnline
