SPOTLIGHT ON GIVING
Knight Cancer Institute
Rob Shick, Branch Manager of the Portland, Oregon office, isn’t afraid of a
challenge. A 10-year cancer survivor, Rob is a tireless advocate for advancing
cancer research funding and care to benefit patients worldwide through the
Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Foundation.
As a member of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Council since 2006 and its chair
since 2010, Rob helped lead the ambitious and unprecedented OHSU Knight Cancer
Challenge, which successfully raised $1 billion in two years for an early cancer detection
research program at OHSU. Prior to that, he led a $10 million initiative to build OHSU’s
Center for Cancer Cell Signaling research laboratories and provided leadership for several
OHSU endowed faculty campaigns, each garnering $2.5 million in support.
